Just place a Top or Bottom layer pad. The safest way to do this is to; 1. FInd and if necessary, edit or create from scratch, a Footprint for a single pad of the diameter that you want, give it a unique name and clear Description then save it; 2. Then place single pin header in your schematic; 3. Assign your Footprint to it using the Footprint Manager; 4. Connect it; 5. Then do **Update PCB...** Done.

sorry i had tryed that & the system will place pad through hole top & bottom.. currently trying to make a new component lay out , but circle will not let me expose the copper so trying with ark & that will let me expose copper but not neat..

No, Ithink you misunderstand the differentvtypes of Pad tha you can create. In the top of the right hand panel in the Footprint Editor, you need to select a **Top Layer** or **Bottom Layer** only pad not a **Multi-layer** pad.

yes. i do that but it still creates a pad top & bottom when making through hole.. i have made over 100 PCB's designs, my last order of boards was a proto type to check components, found a problem with the design having a top pad on a TO-3 transistor, as will short out to the ground of the heatsink.. i need all 4 holes/pads to be only bottom layer.. can not find a suitable PCB lay out in the library

Your original post did not make clear what you are trying to do. It now seems that you want to have holes for component leads in the board but pads on only one layer. Please post an image illustrating what you want to achieve.

i think i found away around my problem.. it now to see if Gerber file will let it be manifacturred .. what i did was place the TO-3 component on the board, adjust the holes to internal diamiter , the adjust pad size 0.2mm larger, then useing the "ark" pad i made a full circle & was able to expose the copper. went to look at 3D & looking good.. now to change the 8 board designs i have that use this TO-3

No images so still not clear what you want to achieve. So, for info: Pads are automatically exposed copper. You can use a Bottom Layer pad and place an unplated hole in it. Or Right click on each semicircle of your constructed circle and do **Convert to Pad**. If you just want to make a single sided PCB then see: [https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-layout-a-single-layer-PCB-3f14f6957f0748f18b7dad53bb5d38b2](https://easyeda.com/forum/topic/How-to-layout-a-single-layer-PCB-3f14f6957f0748f18b7dad53bb5d38b2)
